Born and raised in England, Mr. Broadhurst came to the United States in 1986, to obtain his teaching credential. In 1988 he joined the Soquel Elementary Unified School District and began teaching third grade. Since that time, he has taught upper elementary, middle school physical education, and while on a two-year leave he taught elementary physical education at the Vienna International School in Austria.
He received his multiple subjects teaching credential from California State University at Long Beach, and his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administrative Credential from San José State University. He has district experience as a lead teacher, summer school principal and prior to being appointed as the Main Street principal, he served two years as the assistant principal at New Brighton Middle School. He also served one year as the assistant principal at Ann Soldo Elementary in Watsonville.
As well as being a district employee, Mr. Broadhurst is also a parent; his daughter Milan is a fourth grade student in the district. His hobbies include learning more Spanish from his Chilean wife Rebeca, exercising, home improvement projects and woodworking.
